Woodies NFT launched their first animation film marking the team’s ambition for the project to go beyond an NFT collection & become a successful animated series in the future.
The History of Woodies
The project initially launched in September 2021, showcasing a collection of avatars based on magical trees to help highlight the growing problem of deforestation.
Founder Chris Wallace was inspired to put together the Woodies after a joke by top glitch artist Des Lucrece about creating ten thousand wooden planks as an NFT project.
What started as a joke shifted to a serious passion as Chris began recruiting world-class artists from the UltraDAOÂ art collective to design Woodies, a collection of adorable wooden creatures that possess a Disney-like vibe in their design and high artistic quality not often seen in the plethora of profile picture NFTs. Each Woodie was designed to be unique and randomly generated from over 150 possible traits.
One of the things that set Woodies apart from most other projects in the space is its large charitable component. In keeping with the forest theme, they have worked with tree farmers and have so far donated 88.6 Ethereum to plant one million trees. They plan to continue donations and see this as a long-term commitment.
In a live twitter spaces event hosted by Chris on September 19th, they officially launched the Woodies Origin Premiere, a three-minute amination showcasing Woodies world coming to life as magic fills Wondermist forest with life to protect against a new evil of forest clearance.
Regarding the animation, Chris remarked, “we have been working on this since March to ensure the production level would be so high that the product would be undeniable & people would fall in love with it”.
Shortly after the premiere, a free NFT mint was launched as a momentum of the special occasion. The free mint will remain open until the end of September and can be accessed at origin.woodiesnft.com
The Future for Woodies
The key philosophy for the Woodies brand is they envision a global community dedicated to experiencing and preserving the outdoors, empowered by storytelling and technology. Many are speculating there will be a launch of a Woodies animated series in the future in conjunction with major Animation studios like Disney as more Web 2 executives will inevitably seek to incorporate Web 3 brands into their ecosystem. Certainly, after viewing the Woodies Origin Premiere there is little doubt Woodies would be a worthy addition to the Walt Disney franchises alongside the likes of Toy Story & Finding Nemo.
For holders of a Woodies NFT the team have ambitious aims to reward the community. Ongoing plans on the roadmap include a comic airdrop, becoming an outdoor brand producing apparel and arranging a series of international events for Woodies holders to attend at nature destinations around the world.
